Abstract: |
In September 2017 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation on land south of 1 Station Cottages, Wilburton, Cambridgeshire (NGR TL 4837 7655; Figs. 1 - 2). The evaluation was undertaken in compliance with the initial requirements of a condition attached to planning approval for the construction of two new detached dwellings (East Cambs Council Ref. 16/01680/OUT), based on the advice of Cambridgeshire County Council Historic Environment Team. The site had a potential for prehistoric, Roman and post-medieval remains. A quarry pit of mid 19th - 20th century date and a modern drain and post hole were recorded. Ditch F1004 (Trench 3) contained an abraded sherd of prehistoric (Bronze Age to Iron Age) pottery, likely residual. |
