Abstract:
An archaeological strip, plan and sample was undertaken between 9th - 14th March 2017 by University of Leicester Archaeological Services on behalf of Mr. S. Green at Evergreen Field Farm, Pincet Lane, North Kilworth, Leicestershire. The archaeological investigation was required as a condition of the planning permission for a new single detached dwelling and garage at Evergreen Field Farm, Pincet Lane, North Kilworth, Leicestershire (16/00303/FUL). The HER identified the site lies within the Historic Core of Kilworth with the potential for a medieval and post medieval settlement. Consequently a scheme of archaeological evaluation was undertaken in order to mitigate the potential impact of the development on any such archaeological remains as might be present. The archaeological stripped area for the dwelling revealed an Iron Age enclosure ditch, gullies, post holes, and a pit. The site archive will be deposited with Leicestershire County Council under the accession number X.A27.2017.
