Abstract: |
Archaeology South East was commissioned by Rydon Homes Ltd to undertake an archaeological evaluation of land at Marlpit House and the Chase, Edenbridge, Kent ( NGR 544092 147627) A total of six trenches totalling 100m of trenching were excavated across the site. No indication of the Roman London to Lewes way was observed. The majority of activity on the site was found to derive from the Late Post-Medieval period to Modern period, thought to be related to drainage and landscaping within the grounds of Marlpit house. In addition a probable post-medieval marl pit (indicated on the first edition OS map of 1894) was also identified. |
