Abstract:
Archaeological trial trenching was carried out on land south of High Street, Somerby, Leicestershire (SK 776 104) by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) on 2 January-15 February 2018. The work was undertaken on behalf of The Ernest Cook Trust to provide preliminary indications of any heritage assets and the impact of any development. The site archive will be held by Leicestershire County Council Museum Services under the accession number X.A11.2018. A number of ditches were uncovered from Iron-Age to medieval, stone walls and surfaces, and toft and croft boundaries as extant earthworks.
