Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was undertaken by the Unviversity of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) between 13th and 17th August, 2018 on land at Starmore Farm, Stanford Road, Swinford, Leicestershire. A large curvilinear double ditch was revealed running along the southern edge of Swinford village then curving round to the north. Abundant pottery evidence gave an early to mid medieval date, 1100-1400, suggesting these ditches probably formed part of the boundary of the early village. |
