Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 16 hectares of agricultural land.Identification of features of archaeological origin was difficult due to the presence of magnetic debris over almost the entire survey area. This debris is probably the result of the use of green waste as agricultural fertiliser, where garden waste can become contaminated with small ferrous objects at landfill sites. Two weak linear features of possible archaeological origin have been identified however, and these may relate to former field boundaries visible on aerial photographs. However, due to their isolated nature further interpretation is difficult. No other features of archaeological origin were identified. An area of magnetic disturbance is also present, which is modern in origin and relates to a metallic area of fencing or a service. |
