Abstract: |
Ten trenches were excavated across the proposed development in order to cover a representative area and also to investigate a series of earthworks identified during aerial photography analysis. Eight of the trenches contained archaeological features. These comprised numerous pits, a rectangular enclosure and a series of ditches. A number of the pits and the enclosure have been provisionally dated to the prehistoric period. The features are concentrated towards the centre and west of the area with the trenches located to the east of the area being relatively sterile, suggesting the site is at the eastern edge of a habitation dating to the bronze or iron age. |
