Abstract: |
Report of the archaeological field evaluation carried out by SLR Consulting in advance of a housing construction by Shingler Group. The site comprised of 9 trial trenches in a field in the village of Whittington, Shropshire. The cut features that were identified during trial trenching consisted of an isolated post hole in Trench 3 (which produced no finds) and a ditch in Trench 7, which contained 17th to 20th century finds. This linear feature potentially indicated an historic routeway to the nearby castle. A palaeochannel was found in trenches 8 and 6, which correlates to modern flood risk maps. |
