Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East (ASE), the contracting division of UCL's Institute of Archaeology Centre for Applied Archaeology, were commissioned by CgMs Consulting Ltd. on behalf of their client, to undertake an archaeological evaluation land at Ponds Farm, Aveley, Essex (centred NGR TQ 457 801). Twenty five 25 x 2 metre trenches were excavated. Four similar ephemeral linears were recorded, the fill of one dating to the th Century. Three probable pits were recorded, one producing pottery dating from the 12th - 14th Century. Heavy ploughing had truncated the linears, with spread containing late 13th - 14th Century pottery surviving in the east of the site. |
