Abstract: |
Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd (PCA) was appointed by Deborah Nash, to carry out an archaeological watching brief, at 23 St. Cross Rd., Winchester, Hampshire, hereafter 'the site'. The site is the subject of a proposed single storey extension to the rear of the property. The site lies to the south of the historic core of Winchester, approximately 200m to the south of the line of the City walls. The site is located above the historic site of Winchester's Austin Friary, within the area believed to have been the precinct of the friary. The watching brief was conducted in two visits, on the 23rd and 24th July 2018. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts, or natural deposits, were observed. |
