Abstract: |
The archaeological work comprised the machine excavation of 3 trenches. Natural Hackney Gravels were recorded across the site between 35.93m and 36.66m aOD. The natural deposits were cut by a probable post-medieval boundary ditch perpendicular to West Street. A curvilinear gully containing fragments of worked flint and undiagnostic prehistoric pottery was recorded in the east of the site. An extant subsoil was recorded in the east of the site, elsewhere the natural deposits were overlain by an imported garden soil and modern overburden. |
