Abstract: |
The archaeological work comprised the machine excavation of 2 trenches. Natural Weald Clay was recorded across the site between 45.91m and 46.75m aOD. The natural was overlain by alluvial deposit, possibly a subsoil laid down in marshy ground. The possible subsoil cut by an undated posthole in one trench and a pit and sandstone drain the other. The pit contained a single sherd of medieval pottery while the drain was of mid 18th century date. The features were sealed by a made ground deposit and the concrete and asphalt car park surface. |
