Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East was commissioned by the CgMs consulting to undertake an archaeological evaluation at Bow River Village Phase 2, Land off Hancock Road, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, between the 21st and 23rd of March, 2017. The work was comprised of the excavation of two evaluation trenches (1x 15m by 5m and 1x 15m by 4m). The evaluation revealed natural gravels between 2.43m and 2.67m AOD, which were then overlain by a series of made ground deposits. The considerable thicknesses of made ground, modern disturbance and truncation at the site, to depths of up to 3.3m, in addition to the absence of any surviving buried subsoil layer suggests that the original natural horizon has been truncated, removing any archaeological remains. |
