Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation was undertaken by Archaeology South-East (ASE) at Manor Farm, Chalton, Hampshire (NGR 473279 115978). The excavation was commissioned by Simon Budden and took place between 21st and 23rd June 2010. Natural chalk geology was encountered at 113.80m AOD at the east of the site sloping gradually down to 111.91m AOD in the west. An undated north-south ditch was encountered across the area on the same alignment as an existing field boundary in the adjacent field to the south. An undated shallow pit was also revealed in the north of the excavation area. Archaeological finds from the site included animal bone fragments, fragments of ceramic building material, flint and shell. |
