Abstract: |
This report details the results and working methods of an archaeological evaluation on the land at East Ham Market, Myrtle Road, London Borough of Newham, E6 1HY (TQ 42425 83701). The work was undertaken by Pre-Construct Archaeology Limited and was commissioned by CGMS Heritage (part of the RPS Group). The evaluation took place between June 3rd and 5th 2019 as well as on July 9th and 10th 2019. Four evaluation trenches were excavated to a depth of up to 1.00m below current ground level. Natural sand and gravel deposits were recorded in all four evaluation trenches at a level between 6.20m OD and 5.91m OD. Four archaeological features were encountered within the evaluation trenches, two dating to the late post-medieval period and two from which no dating evidence was recovered. The site can be split into three phases: natural, undated, and post medieval/ early modern. |
