Abstract: |
Detailed magnetometer survey covering 15.75 hectares was carried out south of Marr, South Yorkshire, at the proposed site of a windfarm. Linear anomalies indicitive of infilled ditches have been identified throughout the survey area. Collectively these ditches are part of system of land division comprising fields, enclosures and trackways, that extends to the north of the present site, as evidence as cropmarks. This activity probably dates to the late Iron Age or Romano-British period. The fragmented nature of some of the anomalies suggests modern ploughing may have truncated some of the underlying archaeological features. |
