Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East (ASE) was commissioned by CgMs Consulting on behalf of Abbey Developments Limited to undertake an archaeological evaluation at land off Common Road, Sissinghurst, Kent. Twenty-three trenches were excavated to reveal the underlying natural, firm orangey-yellow silt clay, mixed with frequent natural sandstone deposits at a maximum elevation of 81.45m AOD. Archaeological features were excavated in 3 of the 23 trenches. Securely dated post-medieval activity was limited to a single trackway; located in trenches 4 and 5. |
