Limited excavation of the Prior's Lodging produced evidence of five building phases: a probable two-storey building, with an undercroft, of between 1150 and 1250 was reconstructed and extended in further phases of the late 13th to 14th centuries to form the basis of an early 16th century Lodging. Modifications of the 17th century included the insertion of Romanesque portals from elsewhere on the site. Au (abr)

The Old Wing of 1550 was found to incorporate a large amount of reused 12th-14th century ecclesiastical masonry, and the 17th century New Wing, now largely demolished, also contains reused pieces. The screens passage area with its glazed tiles has been reassessed. F B

Three depictions of the house reveal its development from 1640 to some time before the major demolition of 1784. F B

Two halves of a bronze mould for a MBA unlooped palstave with a shield pattern at the top of the blade: Rowlands Class I Group 3. The outer surface of the mould was decorated. Metal detector find. F B
