Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out by Archaeology South-East on Land at Manor Farm, North Fambridge, Essex, (NGR: TQ 85470 97120) between 21st and 23rd August 2017. The fieldwork was commissioned by CgMs Consulting as a condition of planning consent. Nine trenches measuring up to 30m in length and one measuring 10m in length were excavated. A single cremation burial Late Bronze Age - Early Iron Age in date was uncovered. The subsequent absence of archaeological remains probably related to a vacant land, low intense agriculture or grazing activity in the form of pasture. This fact suggests that this site was peripheral to the Iron Age, Roman and Medieval foci of activity. |
