Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was conducted at the River Bewl, Lamberhurst, Kent between NGR 569686 136704 and 568665 134708, between the 1st November 2017 and 2nd February 2018. The implementation of five ecological features located along the River Bewl were monitored for archaeology. Although no archaeological features were encountered, a small collection of worked timbers were recovered from alluvium in the riverbank. This archaeology is likely post medieval in date and relates to the Scotney Castle estate improvements from the 19th century. |
