Abstract: |
During the excavation of a pit for a pump at Casa Mia, Alverstone, Isle of Wight, a sequence of channel edge, floodplain deposits were recorded and sampled. The subsequent analyses demonstrated accumulation of sediment occurring in the 15th- mid 17th centuries. The environmental proxies assessed demonstrated a freshwater environment with pastoral grassland and woodland surrounding the site. The variable preservation of the environmental remains means no further work is recommended for this sequence. |
