Abstract: |
Allen Archaeology Limited was commissioned by The Debnam Group to undertake an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching on land fronting Orange Grove, 10 Norfolk Street, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, as required by a condition of planning consent for a residential and commercial development. The Debnam Group to successfully satisfy a planning condition issued by the Fenland District Council set out a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording to take place during the groundworks for a block of six flats and a cycle store. The watching brief revealed layers of post - medieval made ground and demolition of limited archaeological interest that were appropriately recorded. The groundworks do not extend past this horizon and it is possible that earlier features survive below this level of impact. |
