Abstract: |
An evaluation comprising 8 trial trenches revealed undated linear features including two parallel gullies, perhaps forming the sides of a small enclosure or trackway, and a pit. A ditch in the east side of the site was dated by pottery to the Early Roman period though environmental evidence suggested it lay away from domestic activity. Ditches in the north and east of the site contained single sherds of medieval pottery. A large pit in the northwestern part of the site and extensive evidence for small scale strip quarrying for sand and gravel over much of the site were dated to the early modern period. |
