Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East (ASE) was commissioned by CgMs Heritage to undertake an archaeological evaluation on Land West of Cherry Avenue, Swanley, Kent (centred at NGR: 550478 168438). The works were carried out between the 28th January and 1st of February 2019. Thirteen trenches, measuring 30m x 1.8m and one trench measuring 20m x 1.8m were excavated in advance of development of the site. Nine features were encountered during the evaluation works, consisting of four linear termini, 3 ditches, a single pit and a posthole. All linear features and, by extension, the associated discrete features, were attributed to orchard land use and field boundaries in use between the late 19th and early 20th century. No archaeological finds, or significant features or deposits were recovered. |
