Abstract: |
MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) was commissioned by K2 Consultancy to carry out an archaeological trial trench evaluation on land at Paradise Street, Coventry, West Midlands. A total of four trial trenches were excavated, two lay within the car park in the north end of the site and two in the car park to the south-east. Both areas showed possible evidence of quarrying with truncated late medieval pits (north area) sealed beneath 17th century ground build up layers that were present over the whole site. Modern occupation was identified along the street frontage onto the London Road in the form of a 19th-century cellar and walls that were sealed beneath demolition deposits and a car park surface. |
