Abstract: |
A geophysical survey was carried out over approximately 3.6 ha along two proposed routes of a water main near Keynsham, Bath and North East Somerset. From a trial survey using magnetometry and resistivity, within the vicinity of the site of the Keynsham Roman Villa, magnetometry was selected as the most appropriate technique for locating geophysical anomalies. The magnetometry survey located a number of anomalies within Area 5 to the south of Keynsham villa which may relate to cut features such as ditches and pits. It is also possible that positive linear and discrete anomalies within Areas 6, 8 and 10 may also relate to cut features however the limited width of the survey corridor does not allow for accurate characterisation of the anomalies. |
