Abstract:		 On the 8th May 2018 York Archaeological Trust conducted a watching brief at Mandrake House, Snaith. Excavation of the trenches reached depths of between 0.75m and 1.10m BGL. At the deepest part of the excavations natural orange silty sand was seen in the base. Above this was an undated plough soil which was then sealed by a made ground layer, dating to the post-medieval period which contained brick rubble and rare sherds of white glaze pottery. Evidence of the previous buildings walls was seen to the north of the site, where they had not been fully demolished. The ground surface of the site comprised of the demolition material produced after the demolition of the original Mandrake House.
