Abstract: |
Four evaluation trenches were excavated on a plot of land at the rear of Goodwin Close, Hailsham, East Sussex. All of the trenches were sterile of archaeological features. The only feature noted was in Trench 2, where a patch of darker soil containing charcoal impacted into the natural, this was interpreted as the site of a bonfire or perhaps the burning out of a tree stump. The only artefacts that were recovered were two pieces of ceramic building material, both of which appeared to date to the 20th century. |
