Abstract: |
Three evaluation trenches were excavated at the Old Lodge, Limpsfield; two located in the car park and one on the wooded bank to the east of the car park. None of the trenches produced any evidence of archaeological features. The two trenches in the car produced evidence for the whole area having had the ground level reduced at the time of the construction of the car park. The 'Tarmac' hard standing laying on a levelling layer directly above the natural sandy clay. All three trenches produced artefacts dating to the late 19th to 20th century, which are contemporary with the date of The Old Lodge itself. |
