Abstract: |
Between the 8th and the 10th of December 2014, John Moore Heritage Services carried out archaeological observation, investigation and recording during the laying of an 11kv electricity cable adjacent the M40 (NGR SP4769840342 centred). The site is part of a Scheduled Ancient Monument (The remains of a Former World War I National Filling Factory, Banbury, HA 1409811). English Heritage granted Scheduled Monument Consent (S00097689) for this work to the monument. Due to the potential disturbance of archaeological remains a condition was attached to the consent requiring a full archaeological watching brief during construction works. The work involved the monitoring and recording of a north / south trench, 0.8m wide, 700m long and 1m deep across the site. |
