Abstract: |
In August 2011 an archaeological trial trench evaluation was carried out on a piece of land at Pocket's Dell, Bovingdon, Hertfordshire to inform proposals for clay extraction. Twenty-nine archaeologically supervised trenches were excavated within the proposed development. All areas were cleaned to determine the presence of archaeological remains and the spoil heaps were visually scanned looking for the presence of archaeological artefacts, but none were recovered. Trenches 1-28 contained no significant archaeological remains, whilst trench 29 contained a single undated pit, containing evidence of in-situ burning. |
