Abstract: |
The evaluation fieldwork comprised the excavation of 24 trenches:
• 11no 30m x 1.8m trenches; and
• 13no 50m x 1.8m trenches.
4.2 The trenches were located both to test geophysical anomalies and to provide a
representative sample of the geophysically “blank” areas. In August and September 2017, Cotswold Archaeology carried out
an archaeological evaluation of land at Gnaton Farm, Creacombe
Cross, Yealmpton, Devon. A total of 24 trenches was excavated
within the site.
The evaluation recorded a single isolated cremation of possible
Bronze Age date. Also recorded were a large number of ditches,
most of which were concentrated in the north-western corner of the
site. The majority of these ditches apparently represent former
boundaries associated with the extant field system. |
