Abstract: |
Ten linear features and a handful of pits were excavated on the site. One curvi-linear feature seems to be part of a ring gully and contained pottery of Iron Age date. This was also associated with a small collection of pits in the vicinity of contemporary date. This was cut by a regular linear field system which formed roughly rectangular enclosures forming three separate fields: a very small amount of Roman pottery may be dating these, but they could as easily be medieval. Also on this alignment were the traces of two post-medieval furrow bases. Two radiocarbon determinations (pending) will add detail to the broad 'Iron Age' dating. |
