Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation was conducted on land off Penrith Way, Langney, Eastbourne, East Sussex, in July 2011 (site centred NGR TQ 6230 0370). Ten 30m long evaluation trenches were excavated. A small number of discrete features and ditches were identified, together with a very small quantity of pottery of typical Late Iron Age or Romano-British fabric (7 small body sherds weighing 6 grams in total). No positive evidence of settlement activity was recorded and the small finds assemblage suggests that these features probably represent remote agricultural field boundary ditches. Another field boundary ditch of probable post-medieval date was also observed in Trench 9 and several undated features were identified across the site. A small focus of modern activity was recorded in the northern part of Trench 6.
