A programme of historic building recording was conducted prior to the proposed conversion of the farm buildings into a residential dwelling on land off Brigg Road, Caistor. A barn and cow shed dating from the mid-late 19th century, and piggeries that were added to the central building in the mid 20th century were recorded.

A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology during groundwork associated with the construction of an extension on the east side of the existing building to form a primary school at Broughton Junior School, Brigg Road, Broughton, North Lincolnshire.

A programme of archaeological building recording was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology (HFA) prior to demolition and refurbishment associated with the conversion of existing farm buildings to residential use at Rectory Farm, Usselby, Market Rasen LN8 3YJ, Lincolnshire. The farm buildings appeared to have been constructed after 1887 and to have undergone significant modifications over the next century. Two parts of the suite of buildings were worthy of note. The first was the south-easternmost building (A), a cart-shed and granary with the unusual proportions of a small house. The second was the surviving portion, (as two rubble-stone walls in building C) of what was possibly an 18th century farmhouse, or an even earlier building. It is believed that the medieval church of St. Margaret to the immediate east, was reworked in the 18th century, and the stone made have come from this. Alternatively, the walls may have been survivals from the supposed clearance of Usselby village to build Usselby Hall in the same century.

The work associated with this project was carried out by staff from HFA, in accordance with the written scheme of investigation for archaeological evaluation and recording produced by HFA, (K. Steedman, 2018), HER Reference: PA/CONS/19761 and with reference to the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists 2014 (a) Standard and Guidance for archaeological field evaluation and (b) Standard and Guidance for archaeological watching brief. The scheme of works comprised the recording of multiple foundation plots ahead of the construction of 34 dwellings on land on the south side of Bacchus Lane, South Cave, East Riding of Yorkshire. This was undertaken over the course of fourteen visits which were conducted from the 7th June 2019 to the 29th September 2021. Standard Humber Field Archaeology recording procedures were used throughout; each identified feature was allocated a context number, with written descriptions recorded on pro forma sheets. Plans and sections were drawn to scale on pre-printed permatrace sheets. A digital photographic record was maintained. Between June 2019 and September 2021, a programme of archaeological excavation and recording was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology in advance of the construction of 34 houses on land to the east of 37 Bacchus Lane, South Cave, East Riding of Yorkshire. The scheme of works identified that archaeological features and deposits were not present within the development site, however the limitations presented in being able to observe excavations as required may have influenced this apparent lack of archaeology. No artefacts were identified or retained as a result of this programme of work.

Monitoring of the site strip revealed a number of archaeological features, which were dominated by two parallel linear ditches, probably representing a ditched trackway. There seems little doubt that the trackway and associated enclosures were a south-western continuation of a Romano-British civil settlement that developed around a late 1st century AD military fort. The pottery recovered from the site had close parallels with a number of 2nd century AD Romano-British rural settlements in North Lincolnshire. [Au(abr)]

Between February and April 2019, a programme of archaeological mitigation was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology during site stripping work prior toquarrying on land at Melton Quarry Extension - Q3, Melton, North Ferriby, East Riding of Yorkshire. The work recorded several Bronze Age pits/postholes as well as the slight remains of a Romano-British ditch.. Both phases of features appear to be associated with, or a continuation of, double-phase occupancy of the site as recorded by archaeological works in 2003 (YAT) and 2012/2015 (OAN) on previous quarry phases. etween February and April 2019, a programme of archaeological mitigation was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology during soil stripping prior to the extraction of chalk from the Q3 Extension at Melton Quarry, Melton, North Ferriby, East Riding of Yorkshire. The work successfully located and investigated a number of archaeological features ranged across the quarry extension. Previous archaeological fieldwork in the Q1 and Q2 extensions, immediately to the south, had identified four principal phases of past activity, ranging from the Neolithic to the Roman or later, and the features excavated in the Q3 area can be assigned to some of these same phases. Features of the earliest phase, of Middle Neolithic date, comprised two intercutting pits and a single small steep-sided pit which may once have held an upright post. A few small undecorated pottery sherds and a small flint assemblage, including flint blades, were recovered, with calibrated radiocarbon dates in the middle centuries of the 4th millennium BC returned from nutshell fragments. Early Bronze Age features lay mostly in the western half of the area. Two deep, steep-sided pits a few metres apart probably once held upright timbers, perhaps part of the same structure, with nutshell fragments from each feature having provided calibrated radiocarbon dates in the 7th and 8th centuries of the 2nd millennium BC; both features contained undecorated pottery sherds and one a flint chunk of late Neolithic or Bronze Age reduction. Further to the west and north-west lay two groups of small pits, each comprising three successive features, with small fragments of heavily abraded pottery being recovered from the latest pit of one group, and joining sherds of decorated Beaker pottery from the latest pit of the other; the latter pit also provided a calibrated radiocarbon date in the 2nd and 3rd centuries of the 3rd millennium BC from a nutshell fragment. Samples of burnt grain and nutshell from a single pit in the same area provided calibrated radiocarbon dates in the first two centuries of the 3rd millennium BC, the pit also containing sherds of pottery, some decorated, and small assemblage of struck flint of late Neolithic/early Bronze Age reduction technology. The latest feature was a narrow linear ditch containing fragments of Roman pottery. This ran roughly parallel to a substantial ditch recorded previously in the Q2 extension, assumed to be part of the field system associated with the Welton villa, excavated in the eastern part of the quarry in the 1970s.
