Phase 1 of the construction of an offshore wind farm situated midway between the Kent and Essex coastlines and more than 20km from each shore. Phase 1 comprises 175 turbines, 2 offshore substations, and 4 export cables to the shore. This particular part of the project is a synopsis report of all of the marine archaeological and environmental finds reported to the London Array Protocol for Archaeological Discoveries (PAD) from 2011 to 2015 during the construction and post-construction phases of the windfarm.

This particular part of the project is the archaeological assessment of the intertidal marine geophysical survey data undertaken by the London Array Retained Archaeologist's for the Engineering and Consent geophysical surveys. The survey area falls under the jurisdiction of both Kent County Council and Canterbury District Council.

This particular part of the project is the archaeological assessment of marine geophysical survey data acquired during the autumn of 2015 and undertaken by the London Array Retained Archaeologist's as part of the three year programme of post-installation archaeological monitoring between 2013-2015. This is the final report following three years of post-installation monitoring.

Desk-based assessment of a proposed location for off-site material disposal identified that no archaeological remains had been recorded at the site. However, remains recorded in the vicinity included Neolithic artefacts, Bronze Age and Anglo-Saxon barrows, late prehistoric settlement evidence, Roman roads, medieval pottery and a 17th century well. Evaluation trenches were excavated at 40 High Street, Whitchurch ahead of the proposed redevelopment of the interior of the structure. The evaluation site was known to be located within the known area of the Roman fort and later civilian settlement of Mediolanum, occupation continued into the Saxon and medieval periods. The trenches revealed a depth of 19th and 20th century demolition rubble and buried walls. This in turn overlay a thick deposit of cultivation soil, sealing a Romano-British horizon and a series of post-medieval and medieval pits to the rear of the plot. At the front of the building the thick deposit of soil was conspicuously absent, but a well-preserved sequence of post-medieval and medieval cobbled surfaces was revealed, along with the robbed remains of a substantial ashlar wall, the date of which could not be established.
