IntroductionMarches Archaeology was founded in 1995, the name originating from our base in the area between England and Wales known as the Marches. The core area of operation extended out from the Marches to include much of central and south-west England as well as Wales.
Marches Archaeology ceased trading in c. 2006. Following closure of the organisation, an English Heritage (now Historic England) funded project was undertaken to ensure that important physical and digital materials were deposited with the appropriate archives. The rescue work, undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology, deposited scanned and born-digital unpublished reports with the ADS in 2012.
