Archaeological site manual: Part 1, the written record
This guide to site descriptions used in the DUA was developed from the field experience of numerous contributors. It covers: the site recording sheet; context descriptions of deposits and cut features; recording of foundations and walls (brickwork terms etc); recording of timbers and timber structures; human skeletons; and finally directions for the recording order to follow.

Pottery archive users' handbook
Explains the day-to-day use of the 'archive' of pottery reference sherds, which is housed in 24 Polstore industrial storage cabinets and is open to external users. The guide is in a simple yes-no programme of steps to follow, so is intended specifically for the London collections but might assist persons setting up pottery collections elsewhere.
