Sleaford
Historical and archaeological account of a medium-sized market town where Iron Age and Roman material has long been known, and recent excavations in the market place yielded pagan Saxon features and material. The documentary evidence substantially confirms the existence of an important estate administration centre here in the 11th century, and the theory of Sleaford as a 12th century plantation should now be abandoned.
