Overview

Historic Building Recording of Prudhoe Hospital

The collection comprises the digital photographic record of the Historic Building Recording undertaken at Prudhoe Hospital. To date this consists of over 3000 photographs depicting Prudhoe Hall and ancillary buildings dating to the late 19th century and the 20th century purpose built hospital buildings. These were built in two main phases: 1920-39 and 1950-86. The archive has been grouped accordingly and separated into Prudhoe Hall & Ancillary Buildings and Hospital Buildings; with individual buildings/groups described separately.

The site report is included with the collection for reference and for further information regarding the hospital and its buildings. The report contains the Conservation Statement for Prudhoe Hall as an Appendix. This also contains a number of photographs taken of the Hall and Hospital buildings, some of which were no longer accessible at the time of the building recording. For completeness these photographs have been included as part of this collection.

A large collection of historic plans and a historic painting were recovered from Prudhoe Hall itself at the time of the Historic Building Recording. These have been deposited in the Northumberland County Archives at Woodhorn.

The final site report and site archive records will be deposited at in the Northumberland County Archives at Woodhorn.
