Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Overview

The Coventry HLC was based on a desk-based examination of published sources, mainly from maps and aerial photographs, as well as on the reconstruction of the pre-inclosure landscapes from documentary research. It was constructed as a GIS layer with each polygon linking to further information; there are just under 1800 records covering the city centre and suburbs to the city boundary. In addition, the HLC data was used to draw up 46 Character Areas by linking those areas that are similar in character and which adjoin each other.

A report summarising the HLC project, as well as more detailed reports describing each Character Area, and the geographic (GIS) data for the HLC and Character Areas can all be downloaded (see the Downloads section).

If any further details or information is required about the Coventry HLC, this can be provided by the Coventry City Council Conservation & Archaeology team.
