Overview

The digital archive

The project archive currently contains the following:

  • Blades, N., Marchant, G. and Greeening, G. 2006: Impact of Aggregates Extraction and Transportation on the Historic Environment. Final unpublished project report submitted to English heritage.

The project dataset - shortly to be available online - consists of numerical measurements of noise, vibration and dust concentrations from Cromford in Derbyshire and Horton in Ribblesdale, Yorkshire. There are also electron micrographs of the dust samples that were collected at each site. Other elements of the dataset include digital photographs of the sampling sites, local quarries and quarrying activities and measuring equipment. Data were also collected from the quarries and local authorities on traffic movements in and out of the quarries for sample periods and local traffic counts.
