Overview

A46 Newark to Widmerpool Road Improvement scheme (2009)

A46 Newark to Widmerpool Road Improvement project digital archive comprises the digital files created during the project. The digital archive has seven components consisting;

  1. Site Concordance: Project chainage plan and site concordance tables.
  2. Photo survey: Individual PDF files for each site code with location maps and selected images. Cross reference with site concordance for chainage and assessment area concordance.
  3. Site survey: Comprises AutoCAD drawings of site survey for each assessment area and an overall project phased (by archaeological period) AutoCAD drawing. Due to post site data processing Wessex Archaeology survey data is also supplied as individual assessment area CSV files. Cross reference with site concordance for chainage and individual site code concordance. Survey protocols and CAD Layer metadata provided as supporting documentation.
  4. Database: Consists of individual database table CSV file exports with associated relationship diagrams for each project database; CONTEXT, FINDS, HUMAN BONE and ANIMAL BONE.
  5. Assessment Data: Collated post-excavation specialist finds and environmental analysis data provided as individual CSV files and grouped by analysis type with supporting documentation. Finds analysis records include: Pottery, Human Bone, Animal Bone, Metalworking and Stone. Environmental analysis records include: General Assessment data, Mollusc, Plant and Environmental cremation analysis. Assessment analysis is included in the assessment area reports and publication.
  6. GIS: Farndon Fields (FFS09) Upper Palaeolithic Flint Scatter GIS. Archived as individual ESRI shapefiles plus layer grouping supporting documentation and a CSV source data file. Analysis is included in the assessment area report and publication chapter 2.
  7. Reports: Comprises the project reporting documentation which includes; Highways England Baseline report, Cotswold Wessex Archaeology (CWA) Written Scheme of Investigation and Assessment reports plus Publication Images. The separate publication is available for purchase; ISBN 9780955353468.
