Overview

The dataset comprises databases of stratigraphic data, finds (including copper alloy, iron, and lead objects, bone, ivory, wooden and leather objects), glass and pottery generated by the excavations undertaken between 1970 and 1987:

  • Catalogue of the human bone from the excavations: Anthea Boyleston (Univ Bradford);
  • Data regarding the vessel glass from the excavations: the late Ruth Hurst Vose;
  • Data generated by the assessment of the medieval pottery from the excavations: Jenny Vaughan, freelance specialist;
  • Database of the stratigraphic data: principal compilers Fraser Brown and Christine Howard-Davis (Oxford Archaeology North);
  • Database of finds data: principal compiler Christine Howard-Davis (Oxford Archaeology North);
  • Other elements of the material archive, for instance the medieval floor tiles and the medieval stonework, do not appear in the database, but are described in full in the 2008 publication.
