Papers presented at seven period-based seminars held between June 2002 and June 2003. The presentations consisted of county-based overviews and thematic papers. Each contributor was asked to present an assessment of present knowledge and gaps in knowledge and include sources; key excavations and surveys; methodologies and techniques; economy; landscapes; social frameworks; continuity and transition; specific regional issues; and potential cross-period themes. Some of the papers were updated following the presentations, but written papers were not produced for all of the seminar presentations.
