Abstract:		 The watching brief revealed several features and deposits of archaeological interest. It was possible that the remains of one, or perhaps two, buildings were represented within Trench 1. Although no evidence of the actual structures themselves was uncovered, the presence of a series of possible floor layers did seem to point to occupation in this area. On the basis of the pottery dating information, it may have been that two separate phases of occupation were represented. The first possible structures appeared to have been in use between the 13th and 15th centuries, with a subsequent structure present in the late 15th-16th century. Further activity was suggested to the west, but appeared to be limited to possible rubbish pits, rather than evidence for habitation. This was also true for trench 2, which lay towards the eastern side of the site. The foundation trenches for the two garages, situated along the southern part of the site, failed to produce any evidence for human activity. [Au(abr)]
