Abstract: Contains short reports from official and other bodies working on Welsh archaeology and brief notes on sites and finds in the Principality. Several longer excavation reports come from Simon Timberlake (11-17) on 'Excavations at Parys Mountain [Anglesey] and Nantyreira [Dyfed]' where mining mauls may prove to have BA associations; John Pickin (18-19) on 'Stone tools and early mining in Wales' where over twenty examples of tools are known in Mid-Wales and N Wales but not so far at English copper-mining sites; David Bick (20-1) on 'An ancient leat near Dolaucothi gold mine'; Alan Lane & Ewan Campbell (22-4) on 'Excavations at Longbury Bank Dyfed, 1988' where a high-status settlement of 5th-7th century could match Dinas Powys except for being defenceless; Richard Avent (25-7) on 'Laugharne Castle excavations, 1976-88' where 11 phases have been elucidated; J R Cole (28-9) on 'Excavations at St David's Bishops Palace' (enclosure wall, blocked arch); and James Barfoot (30-4) on 'Excavations at Gelli-Goch, Powys, 1984-6' (18th century turnpike). Survey reports treat recent palynology in Wales, Gower field systems, Rhondda longhuts, aerial photography in the National Monument Record and in Dyfed, village shapes in S Wales, the Black Mountains, and the Severn Levels.
