Abstract: |
The proposals will have substantial impact on the fabric of the study area in places, but most of this is on buildings of the late 1970s and 1980s, that have little intrinsic or historic interest. Some loss of fabric in the boundary wall between the Moon and Sixpence Yard and Shires Yard at planned and there is still some uncertainty as to its status. However, nearly all the fabric under threat of demolition is 1980s or later modification, very different in effect from the original. In the chapel and no 46, Milsom Street no significant demolitions are planned and the removal of the 1980s dry lining can only be a good thing. Below ground archaeological deposits may occur and may be of local importance. Disturbance should be kept limited, as it is intended to be, and mitigated. |
