Abstract: |
This statement records and assesses Newland Inn which was probably built during the early 19th century to cater for the passing canal and roadside business. Newlands Inn was initially built as a series of commercial and agricultural buildings that were associated with the rapid settlement of Golden Valley following the areas industrialisation during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This statement describes the present extant and historically demolished heritage assets and outlines impacts from the proposed development. The redevelopment of the PDA entails the retention and refurbishment of the existing Newlands Inn, a designated heritage asset (listed building) and two proposed new buildings to the north and northwest of the existing inn. |
