Abstract:		 North Pennines Archaeology Ltd undertook an archaeological watching brief on groundworks relating to the excavation for the slab for the area of the new crèche building at Stanwix Nursery, Church Street (NGR NY 40100 57105). Undertaken over 2 days between the 17th and 18th January 2011, the watching brief monitored the excavation of 5 service trenches. A sixth trench was added for a new gas pipe which had to be kept separate from other services. No archaeological remains were noted.
